About
We are partnering with four venues in South East to organize a series of 6 events for 2009 into early 2010: South Hill Park (Bracknell), permanent gallery (Brighton), A Space (Southampton) and South Street Arts (Reading).
The event provides a platform for the artists to experiment with new ideas and projects, focusing on the contextualization of their work and to take a risk, reaching for that idea that is currently just on the edge of their horizon, rather than reproducing a set performance. The event also provides the audience with a wide variety of works by presenting an eclectic program, and to alternate genres/disciplines, as well as embodying diverse artistic attitudes and approaches.
We are curating exciting performances and artists, at the same time we are creating a comfortable sociable and relaxed atmosphere. Thus this series of events is a social encounter as much as an experimental artistic event. The events also mix and blend audiences who have different artistic tastes, backgrounds and expectations.
Testing Grounds hopes to contribute to the richness of the South East region Live Art scene by creating a place where audiences can glimpse the newest work, be provoked, discuss new ideas and socialize.
Testing Grounds committee is:
- Nadege Derderian (Director)
- Woodrow Kernohan (Visual Art advisor)
- Seth Kriebel (Live Art advisor)
- Orion Maxted (artist and music advisor)
